MAYOR OF SÃO PAULO VISITS CONSTRUCTION BY MANANCIAIS BUILDING CONSORTIUM
On March 15th, São Paulo mayor Ricardo Nunes visited the Mananciais Building Consortium construction in Guaicuri. He went with the São Paulo Secretary of Housing, João Farias, Executive Secretary of Settlement and Urban Development Elisabete França, and a delegation of officials from the legislative and executive branches.
They visited one of the housing developments now under construction, which will be completed this year. The site is part of a large project of urban development and construction of 1,100 homes. In addition to housing, the local population will have a day care center, a bike path and a sports and entertainment park.
The Mananciais Program is a joint effort carried out under the Favela Development Program and the Housing Development Program. It targets occupations of degraded river spring areas. The project is intended to revitalize the area in order to guarantee quality water coming from these springs by carrying out important urban development and sanitation works, soil retention and slope stabilization. More than 6,300 families from ten communities in the spring regions of São Paulo will benefit from it.
