NEW SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANT IN ITAIPAVA
On the World Environment Day, June 5th, the new Itaipava Sewage Treatment Plant was opened in Petrópolis. This project represents a step forward in the commitment to sustainability and innovation.
The Itaipava STP uses Biobob technology combined with a bioreactor, developed by Tigre Água e Efluentes. This innovative method reduces energy consumption and sludge generation by up to 40% compared to conventional methods. Construction was conducted by Carioca Engenharia in partnership with Grupo Águas do Brasil and Tigre Água e Efluentes.
With a fully automated verticalized structure, the new STP takes 75% less space than conventional facilities, offering greater sustainability and treatment efficiency. The Plant has the capacity to treat 2.5 million liters of sewage per day and serves 20,000 people in the districts of Nogueira and Itaipava, demonstrating how engineering and technology can work together to promote public health and protect the environment.
The opening ceremony was attended by the general director of Carioca Engenharia, Daniel Rizzotti, the CEO of Grupo Águas do Brasil, Claudio Abduche, vice mayor Paulo Mustrangi, and other authorities.
This project is a significant achievement in the region, as it ramps up the continuous efforts towards a more sustainable future.
